COME TO THE BANDIT

.

Down the valley road into the woods
Where birds signal your foot
And quiet eyes breath in the sun-stroked place
Bring food and drink to the unmasked face
Bring sweet fleshed young maidens to the outlaw
Bring laughter and tales worth a recall
But, come to the bandit
Come

Wine smiles wet on his whiskers
Blood somewhere muds and cakes with dust
He'll pinch the woman that whispers
Newly widowed and fatherless aren't yet such
Sing down the sun and shoot in the night
How many died without a fight?

Come to the bandit
He waits in a clearing under the moon
Come to the bandit

He'll be spending his gold soon
